Hospital Open Day

on Saturday July 30th 2005

We were delighted to see so many people on Saturday July 30th at our Open Day, with over 600 people attending. The weather was kind to us and the rain held off until the end of the afternoon!

The tour of the hospital proved popular with adults and children alike and we were of course pleased to receive so many compliments about the facilities, some even asking if we would consider branching out into human care!….not just yet!

There was plenty for the children to do.

Alec Suttenwood represented The Ipswich Wildlife Sanctuary and he had brought along a rescued squirrel and a greedy fledgling. We would be stuck if it was not for Alec’s amazing work to rehabilitate and reintroduce all the small animals and birds that are brought to the practice each year.

Don King represented PAT (Pets As Therapy) and he and his dog Toby enjoyed the day.

On behalf of both the charities we would like to thank all those who generously donated on the day with over £200 raised.

Suffolk Farmhouse Cheeses brought along a two month old Guernsey calf to be named and he proved a very popular attraction. The name drawn out the hat was ‘Barley’.

Face painting, bouncy castle and ice creams also went down well and the winner of the children’s hospital tour quiz was Steven Turner, well done.

We launched our ‘Lifetime of Care’ prize draw competition with a first prize for a dog and cat including one years pet insurance and three years of vaccination worming and flea control all absolutely free!

For more information call into the surgery or phone 333677.

Paul Dawdry was the photographer on the day and photos from the open day can be viewed and purchased by visiting www.pdphotostudio.com with 10% of the sales going to our two charities.
