As you all know, our out of hours care is currently undertaken by Vets Now, who are based in Melton Vets. We have listened to a lot of your feedback that having to travel further to a surgery you are unfamiliar with in a stressful out of hours situation is not ideal, and we have been working for several months now to come to an alternative solution. Well, we can now reveal that from the 13th of January 2020, Vets Now will be based on site at our Grange Farm Hospital!
This means, the same great care from dedicated emergency vets who are awake and ready to look after you and your pet at any time of the weekend or night, but with the advantage of the location and facilities of our Kesgrave site, and a place you and your pet are familiar with. It also means that hospitalised patients will have a dedicated vet and nurse on site with them at all times. Although Vets Now staff are not employed by us, they will have access to your pet’s medical history and will be liaising directly with our vets morning and evening to ensure continuity of care.
Vets Now will be operational here from 7pm in the evening to 8am in the morning on weeknights, and from 12 noon Saturday until 8am Monday morning. This will mean some changes to our current opening hours.
Our vets will consult until 8pm in the evenings, although to allow for smooth running of the emergency service, our phones will be turned over at 7pm – so if you want an appointment with one of our vets between 7 and 8pm, you will need to call before 7pm. On a Saturday, our vets will consult until 3pm, but appointments must be booked before 12 noon, so if you want an afternoon appointment with one of our vets on a Saturday, it is important to book it in the morning. Any phone calls after 7pm on a weekday, or after 12 noon on a Saturday will be directed to Vets Now. We will no longer be running a Sunday surgery.
The teams at both Orwell Vets and Vets Now are both very excited to be enhancing our service in this way, and can’t wait to get this partnership started!
